Admissions
The Independent Grammar School: Durham will be an inclusive, non-selective school, welcoming children from all backgrounds, and we will not operate an entrance examination. Parents who wish to enrol a child at the school will be asked to complete an entry form and pay a non-refundable deposit of £50. This will not necessarily guarantee entry to the school. If for any reason the child is subsequently not granted a place, the deposit will be refunded. Parents in signing the entry form agree to the terms of the Parental Commitment (see school website) and thereby indicate their support for the key principles of the school.
In all cases, before confirming admission we will contact the child’s current school to identify safeguarding or behavioural issues or details of additional needs which have not been mentioned by parents. Despite our commitment to inclusivity, this information might make it impossible for us to enrol the child and in that case admission to the school will, regretfully, not be granted.
A full term’s notice must be given if a child is to be withdrawn from the school. For the avoidance of doubt, this means that if a child is to leave for example at the end of a school year, notice must be given no later than the first day of the Trinity (summer) term. In the absence of such notice, a full term’s fees in lieu of notice will be payable.
